Day 2, Boston

Welcome to the last day of September 2024! I am sitting by the window with a beautiful early morning view of Boston. This is cruise day! We have a 2pm boarding time, but I am going to board early so I can make my specialty dining reservations. Dinner tonight will likely be in the main dining room. We have early seating at 6pm.

We had another great day yesterday exploring and enjoying Boston! After going to the hotel gym and having coffee in the room, we had Brunch at Source in Harvard Square and I highly recommend it. We saw this restaurant on Diners, Drive ins and Dives and really wanted to try the French Toast Baba. My husband ordered that! It was delicious and very light and “pillowy”. I ended up ordering the special the “wake and bake” burger. I was intrigued by the sunny side eggs and the most unique thing about this burger was that it came with pizza dough as the bread which was absolutely delicious. The burger itself was cooked perfectly and may have been one of the best I ever had. The flavor profile of the whole plate was perfect from the exclusive Miss Mabel sauce to the cheddar, arugula and dressing, to the the home fries. I would absolutely go back to Source next time I am in Boston! I think it is locally sourced and everything is probably good there!

We spent the rest of the day exploring Boston and breweries again. Since we were across the bridge in Cambridge, we headed first to Aeronaut Brewing. This place was great with a good vibe. The beer was also good. Next on our list was Trillium which has been on our must do list for Boston for a while. They have many locations. We went to the Fort Totem location in the seaport. It is located in a new bustling area and has a Trader Joe’s adjacent to the building. We had 1 beer there. Since we were so close to Harpoon, we had to go there too. We have been to Harpoon many times before, but it is always one of our favorites. I tried a seasonal pumpkin beer there with brown sugar on the rim!

We decided to call it an early night and get dinner to enjoy back in our hotel room. The place we found to order from wasn’t delivering anymore on door dash. It was pretty close to our hotel so we ordered the food before leaving the brewery and had the Lyft drop us off there. We picked up the order and then walked the short walk back to the Hyatt.

All in all, it was a great day exploring Boston. I liked the central location of the Hotel since we explored a wide variety of places and locations this trip. I think Source ended up being my favorite thing of the trip, and I am glad I tried a lot of new breweries and places we have not been before.

We are in Rockland, Maine tomorrow which is another new place for me. We are booked on a private excursion with a group that posted on our cruise facebook page tomorrow. It is a schooner boat sail on “A morning in Maine” schooner. We are booked on the 1pm tour. It is a tender port so we will have to get tender tickets and meet the group on the pier. We arrive to the port at 7am, so I predict it will not have to wait long for a tender if we want to aim to get off at 12 or 12:30.

Excited for day 1 of a cruise filled with rest, relaxation, and adventure!
