t’s friday, October 4th, Day 5 of the cruise. Yesterday was a port day in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Isand. It was another beautiful day. We got off the ship around 11:30 and headed over to the Peakes Quay area for lunch. We got a lobster roll from Dave’s lobster. We chose to get the 1/2 and 1/2 version that was half cold with mayonaise and have hot with butter, both on a warm bun. Both were good and the lobster was really fresh. Next we took at walk through the downtown area with the Hopyard brewery as our destination in google maps.
The journey here gave us a great self guided walking tour of the downtown area. We passed 2 different Cow’s creameries which is a popular ice cream shop in Charlottetown. We passed Victoria row which is a cobblestone street lined with restaurants and shops. They also had fall scarcrows and different Halloween characters all around the city.
The Hopyard had beers from several brewers on tap. We each had a beer and continued our walking tour back to the Food hall and visitor center near the port which also had eateries and a small brewery. We enjoyed the day and the town, and reboarded the ship early. I spent some time in the cabin reading my book and we watched sailaway from our balcony sailing past 2 lighthouses.
Dinner last night was at the Tuscan Grill restaurant on the back of the ship. We had a window table and were able to see a beautiful sunset from our table for 2. For appetizers, I ordered a crab cake and goat cheese and arugula salad. For my entree, I got Filet mignon, plus we split a small portion of the lasagna. For dissert, we split Tiramisu and some really delicious pistacio bignets with vanilla bean gelato and a delicious blend of cherry and other sauces. The flavor profile was outstanding. It may be my favorite dessert of the week!
We went to the show after dinner with the Eclipse singers and dancers. We really enjoyed the music and the peformance more than we expected. Following the show, we ended the night in the skylounge after watching the guitar singer.
Today is another sea day. We will take it easy and I am looking very forward to saturday and sunday in quebec city!
