Hi all. We are about to embark on an 11 night voyage to New England and Canada. Our adventure will start with 2 nights in Boston at the Hyatt Regency Boston. We booked the room with Hyatt points and have used a suite certificate to upgrade to a an executive suite. We stayed at this hotel once before and like it’s central location to everything in Boston. Because we booked the room with points, we have another advantage of getting resort fees waived.
The cruise…. We will be debarking for 11 nights on the beautiful Celebrity Eclipse. We have sailed on the Solstice class many times before and really like this class. We got a great deal on this cruise which included the classic drink package, wifi, and a large amount of on board credit. I was able to find some amazing flash sales ahead of the cruise in the cruise planner so I have upgraded our drink packages and wifi packages to premium and booked a 5 night specialty dining package which will be a nice mix for an 11 night cruise. We enjoy the Tuscan grill and Murano on this class of ships. The view from the Tuscan grill is a beautiful AFT view. See photo below from a previous sailing on the Celebrity Solstice. The upgrade to the premium drink package is worth it for us because we really enjoy the Martini bar and the World Class bar on celebrity ships and I also enjoy the upgraded wine by the glass selection options with dinner for more variety. Since we are diamond status on royal caribbean, we get reciprocal benefits on celebrity and are ELITE status. Some of the benefits I will enjoy this cruise are a wine tasting, a free bag of laundry for DH and I each which will be nice on the 11 night sailing, a free dry cleaned item. We usually send Greg’s suit to be cleaned after the first formal night, a free scoop of gelato, and some other events through out the cruise. There is also an ELITE cocktail hour each night, but it really doesn’t impact us much on this sailing since we have a drink package. One of the things I enjoy with the drink package is that it includes specialty coffees from Cafe El Bacio which is one of our favorite locations on the ship! We also get the option of going to the Elite breakfast in the Tuscan grill each morning. This is a nice alternative to the breakfast buffet and the Tuscan grill is beautful with with great windows and an AFT view. They offer continental breakfast choices made to order and specialty coffees or breakfast cocktails such as mimosas if you wish. We often do this for the relaxed experience.
One of the reasons we booked this itinerary was because of the overnight stop in Quebec city. We have never been to Quebec city and a cruise that stops there has been on our bucket list. You usually have to do a longer cruise to do this itinerary and each cruise line only offers a few of these sailings a year. I am also looking forward to the stop in Charlottetown PEI. We also enjoy Portland Maine, and Halifax and this will be our first time visiting Rockland.
These are all easy cities to visit so we will be doing most of the excursions in each port on own. Stay tuned for what we have planned in each stop…..
Here are a few photos from a past celebrity cruise.
